Hongsa Khotsouvanh
1975年、ヴィエンチャン出身、同地在住。ラオス国立美術大学を卒業後も同地で活動するホンサー・コッスワンはラオスの伝統的な生活や景観を描いた水彩画でよく知られています。本展覧会では新聞などを用いたコラージュ作品を紹介しています。〈スー・ソックはいつも満ち足りない〉は、ラオスの仏教寓話をモチーフとした作品です。人物の腹部は不動産、車、嗜好品などで破裂しており、現代ラオスにおける物質的な富への果てない欲望を表現しています。〈反射の中の対比〉では外資などにより激変するラオスの街並みの下に、伝統的なものが消え去っていく状況が描かれています。多くのアジアの国々が経験した宿命が決定的なものとして刻印されている作品と言えるでしょう。
Born in Vientiane in 1975, lives and works in the same region. A graduate of the National University of Fine Arts and Music, Laos, Hongsa Khotsouvanh is well known for his watercolor paintings depicting traditional lifestyle and landscapes of Laos. This exhibition introduces his collage works using newspapers and other materials. Suu Sok Who is Never Enough is based on a Laotian Buddhist fable. The abdomen of the figure is bursting with real estate, cars, and luxury items, expressing the endless desire for material wealth in contemporary Laos. The Contrast in Reflection depicts the disappearance of traditional things beneath a Laotian cityscape that is undergoing radical change due to foreign investment. These works are a definitive manifestation of the fate that many Asian countries have inevitably experienced.

Mr. Hongsa KHOTSOUVANH is a freelance Artist from Laos. His artworks have been created by a unique watercolor paint-based drawing style and contemporary mixed media work. An idea of his art is to reflect the social development, which has brought new perspectives in economic, cultural and social aspects. I believe that the viewers will be impressed by the exceptional artworks from various artists, including the Lao PDR at the Art Stage OSAKA 2023.
