Busui Ajaw
1986年生まれ、チェンライ出身、同地在住。東南アジア本土の高地から国境を越えて暮らす遊牧少数民族（アカ族）の職人の家に生まれたアジョウは文字のないアカ族の文化や歴史、伝説、風習の伝達方法であった口承文学を引用して視覚化し、自身の生活環境を織り交ぜながら絵画や彫刻で表現しています。
本作品シリーズでは、彼女の表現テーマの中心であるアカ族の物語を、女性、また母としての視点から再考しています。アジョウ自身の独特の立場から伝統を語るだけではなく、さまざまな政情不安から抑圧を受け、不安定な生活に苦しみ、影に隠れている人々、特に女性の現状にも焦点を当てています。
Born in Chiang Rai in 1986, lives and works there. Born to an artisan family from the Akha tribe, an ethnic group who live across the borders from the highlands of southeast Asia, Ajaw portrays the culture, history, customs and traditions of her people, who used to pass them down by oral recantation as they have no traditional written language, and pieces them together with fragments from her everyday life.
This body of work takes a new look at the Ahka’s beliefs, which has always been a central theme in Ajaw’s practice, as a woman and a mother. Beside portraying their traditions from her own personal, unique stance, she explores today’s condition of those women who live invisible lives, those whose lives are precarious, suffering from the many problems caused by political unrest.
