Emi Kusano
1990年東京都生まれ。レトロフューチャリズム、若者文化、最新テクノロジーをテーマに創作活動を行うマルチディシプナリー・アーティスト。高校時代に原宿でストリート写真家デビューし、FITミュージアムやヴィクトリア・アンド・アルバート美術館で展示。80年代アイドル文化を再構築する「Satellite Young」の主宰兼リードシンガーとしてSXSWで活躍。2021年、当時8歳の息子の「Zombie Zoo」プロジェクトをきっかけにWeb3ムーブメントに参加し、アニメNFTプロジェクト「新星ギャルバース」を大平彩華とともに考案・共同創設しクリエイティブディレクターに就任、ローンチ後OpenSeaの取引総額24時間ランキングで世界一に輝いた。2023年Bright Moments Tokyoにて発表した「Neural Fad」コレクションは今までの“レトロフューチャー”スタイルを継承しながら、画像生成AIを用いて、存在したかもしれない日本の若者文化をパラドクス的に描いたストリートスナップ。様々な時代背景や要素を掛け合わせて構成されており、昔ながらのノスタルジックな見た目とモダン要素が交わる幻想的なデザインを特徴とする。
アート、NFT、Web3の分野で幅広く活躍しており、株式会社Ficitonera代表取締役、東京藝術大学非常勤講師、AI時代の子育て論を書く「ネオ子育て」等多数執筆をするなど、多彩な顔を持つ。
Born in Tokyo in 1990. Multidisciplinary artist exploring the themes of retro-futurism, youth culture, and the latest technology. Kusano started her career as a street photographer in Harajuku while in high school, having exhibited at the FIT Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, while also involved in music as SXSW, the leader and lead singer of "Satellite Young," a group reimagining 80's idol culture. In 2021, she joined the Web3 movement with her then 8-year-old son's “Zombie Zoo" project and later co-founded the web3 anime studio “Shinsei Galverse” with Ayaka Ohira, which topped OpenSea's 24-hour ranking for total volume after its launch. Inheriting the "retro-futuristic" style of her previous collections, she presented her "NeuralFad" collection at Bright Moments Tokyo 2023, using AI image generators to create paradoxical street snapshots of imaginable Japanese youth culture. The collection is composed of various historical backgrounds and elements, and features a fantastical design that combines the nostalgic appearance of the past with modern aspects.
President of Fictionera Japan, a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, and author of many publications including “Neo-Kosodate,” Kusano is widely active in the fields of art, NFT, and Web3.
